Coombabah Lakelands Conservation Area

Magnificent high quality gallery of photos from the Lakelands Conservation Reserve at Coombabah, including people, native wildlife, many birds species and several different types of kangaroos and wallabies.

This natural bushland reserve is only 15 minutes drive north from central Surfers Paradise on the Gold Coast and is a quiet and beautifully maintained location suitable for walking, cycling, running and day tours.

The first thing you’ll notice as you drive through the main gates is a well positioned car parking area with immediate viewing of kangaroo and wallabies grazing on the lush open grassland areas … some kangaroos even put on a show and hopped right out in front of me, but never close enough to be a bother. The birds were so friendly they flew right into my convertible, but again, not too close to put them in harms way.

On this page are beautiful photos of red and grey kangaroos, several baby joeys in a pouch, kangaroos fighting, wallabies, a sick wallaby with ticks on its upper eye, wild ducks, the boardwalks over the swampland and over the Coombabah Creek, Australian Raven (crow) eating a dead carcass, people walking, cycling, holding hands, looking for koalas, magpies, closeups of different bird species, macro pictures of native flowers and some weeds, pine cones, wagtail, bracken in the forest, eucalypt, gum, wattle, acacia, mangroves, ducks swimming, swampland, water plants, marshland, bottle brush, grevillia, wild bush turkeys, water birds, ferns, birds nest fern, chocolate labrador, fungi, clematis, lantana and many more.

We’re incredibly blessed in Australia, with councils, government bodies and local environmental agencies that really care about saving these glorious lake-lands and nature reserves for us to enjoy together.
